The terms on which Drop Bear Garage Pty Ltd provides services.

Last updated: October 10, 2026

This policy explains how Drop Bear Garage Pty Ltd (ABN 44 670 778 891), trading as Drop Bear Garage (“we”, “us”, “our”), collects, uses, stores and discloses your personal information. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

We only collect what we need to quote, book, carry out and record work on your vehicle. That usually means:

  • your name, phone number, email address and postal or billing address
  • vehicle details, including make, model, year, registration, VIN, odometer reading and service history
  • details of the work you ask us to quote or carry out, and photos of the vehicle taken in the workshop
  • for fleet and trade customers, your business name, ABN and the contact details of the people who book vehicles in
  • payment records. We do not store full card details. Card payments are processed by [payment provider]
  • records of calls, emails and messages with us

We do not ask for sensitive information such as health details. If you choose to tell us something sensitive, we only use it for the reason you gave it to us.

How we collect it

Most information comes straight from you: through the quote form on this website, by phone, by email or in person at the workshop. We may also receive information from booking platforms you use to reach us, such as AutoGuru or the Repco Authorised Service network [confirm which apply], and from your insurer or fleet manager if they arrange the work.

Website, cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar tools. Google Analytics helps us understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited and how people arrived. This data is collected in a way that does not identify you by name. Google reCAPTCHA protects our quote form from spam and may collect device and browser information. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.

How we use it

  • to respond to enquiries and prepare quotes
  • to book, carry out, test and document work on your vehicle, including road tests
  • to keep service records and logbook entries, and to remind you when your next service is due
  • to process warranty claims with parts suppliers, manufacturers and Repco
  • to arrange engineering and certification for GVM upgrades and modifications
  • to invoice you and keep accounting records
  • to improve our website and services
  • to meet our legal obligations

We will only send you marketing, such as service offers or news, if you agree to receive it. Every message will include an easy way to opt out.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it where needed to do the job or where the law requires it, for example with:

  • parts suppliers and manufacturers, for orders and warranty claims
  • Repco, where work is covered by the Repco Authorised Service program [confirm]
  • engineers and certifiers who approve GVM upgrades and vehicle modifications, and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads where a modification needs to be recorded
  • licensed inspectors who issue safety certificates, and towing providers you ask us to arrange
  • our IT, website hosting, email, accounting and payment providers
  • your insurer or fleet manager, where they are arranging or paying for the work
  • government agencies or law enforcement, where required or authorised by law

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers store data outside Australia. Google, which provides Analytics and reCAPTCHA, may process data in the United States and other countries. [List any other overseas providers, for example your workshop management software.] We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information.

How we protect it

We keep personal information in secure systems with limited access, and paper records are stored securely at the workshop. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

We keep records for as long as we need them for the purposes above and as required by law. For example, tax records are kept for at least five years. When we no longer need information, we securely destroy or de-identify it.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access, and if that happens we will explain why in writing.

Making a complaint

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first. Put your complaint in writing and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Terms & conditions

Last updated: [date of publishing]

These terms apply to all quotes, servicing, repairs, fitouts, upgrades and other work carried out by Drop Bear Garage Pty Ltd (ABN 44 670 778 891), trading as Drop Bear Garage (“we”, “us”, “our”), at 8/31 Acanthus Street, Darra QLD 4076. By approving a quote or leaving your vehicle with us, you agree to these terms. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

1. Quotes

  • Quotes are free and valid for 30 days from the date issued.
  • A quote covers the work and parts listed on it. If we find something else once the vehicle is in the workshop, we will call you with a price before going further. We will not carry out extra work without your approval.
  • Parts prices can change if a supplier changes its price before the parts are ordered. If that happens, we will tell you before ordering.

2. Bookings and deposits.

  • If you cancel after special-order parts have been ordered, we may keep the part of the deposit needed to cover non-refundable parts or restocking fees, and we will show you what was charged.

3. Parts you supply

We are happy to fit parts you have bought elsewhere. We will tell you before we start if we think a part is not suitable or not rated for the job. Our labour on that fitment is covered by the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. The part itself is covered by whoever sold it to you, and we are not responsible for a failure caused by a faulty or unsuitable customer-supplied part.

4. GVM upgrades, modifications and tuning

  • GVM upgrades and modifications are certified by an approved engineer or under the manufacturer’s or kit supplier’s approval. The certified rating is set by that approval, not by us.
  • It is your responsibility to tell your insurer about any modification, GVM upgrade or ECU tune, and to load and tow within the vehicle’s certified ratings.
  • A modification or ECU tune may affect your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty on related parts. We will talk this through with you before any work starts.

5. Road testing

You authorise us to drive your vehicle on public roads where needed to diagnose a fault or check our work.

6. Payment

  • Payment is due on collection, before the vehicle is released, unless a fleet or trade account has been approved.
  • Approved accounts are payable within 14 days of the invoice date.
  • We may hold the vehicle until the invoice is paid in full.

7. Vehicles and belongings left on site

  • Vehicles are stored securely, but at the owner’s risk. Please remove valuables before drop-off.
  • We will contact you once the work is done. If a vehicle is not collected within 7 days of that notice, we may charge storage of $2 per day.

8. Old parts

You can ask for any replaced parts back when you approve the work. Otherwise we dispose of them, or return them to the supplier if they are part of an exchange or warranty claim.

9. Warranty and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

On top of those rights, servicing and repairs carried out under the Repco Authorised Service program are covered by the Repco nationwide warranty, on Repco’s terms. Parts also carry their manufacturer’s warranty. To make a claim, contact us on (07) 2146 9730 with your invoice.

10. Repair notices

  • Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods.
  • The repair of goods capable of retaining user-generated data may result in loss of the data. This includes vehicle infotainment, navigation and paired-device settings. Please note any settings you want to keep before drop-off.

11. Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by existing wear, defects or faults in the vehicle that we were not asked to repair, or by work done by others. This clause does not exclude, restrict or change any right you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

12. Privacy

We handle your personal information in line with our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Both parties submit to the courts of Queensland.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page at the time you approve a quote is the one that applies to that job.
