Engineered & certified
A GVM upgrade raises your vehicle's legal Gross Vehicle Mass, so you can carry the weight you are already carrying without being illegal or uninsured. Every one we fit is engineered, certified, and matched to how you actually load the vehicle.
The basics
Every vehicle leaves the factory with a Gross Vehicle Mass rating: the most it can legally weigh, fully loaded. That includes you, the passengers, the fuel, the canopy, the drawers, the fridge, the water and the tools.
Most dual cab utes run out of GVM faster than owners expect. Fit a bull bar, a canopy and a dual battery setup, load the family in, and you can be over the limit before you have packed the camping gear.
Being over your GVM is not a technicality. It affects braking distance and handling, it can void your insurance in an at-fault crash, and it carries fines and defect notices in Queensland.
The fix
A GVM upgrade fixes that legally. We fit an engineered suspension package rated to the higher weight, then have the vehicle certified to the new rating. The number on your compliance plate goes up, and so does what you can legally carry.
If you have been searching for a GVM upgrade in Brisbane or anywhere in QLD, this is what you are buying: the kit, the fitment, the engineering and the certificate, from one workshop.
What it does not do is make a vehicle stronger everywhere. Your axle ratings, tyre ratings and GCM still apply. We walk you through exactly what changes and what does not before you spend anything.
Two certification paths
PRE-REG
Fitted before the vehicle is first registered, under a Second Stage Manufacture approval. The higher GVM is recognised federally, so it is accepted in every state without extra paperwork. If you are buying new, this is the cleaner path.
POST-REG
Fitted to a vehicle already on the road, then certified by an approved engineer under Queensland's modification rules. This is what most people need, and it is completely legitimate. We do both.
Authorised dealer
We are an authorised dealer for Tough Dog and EFS, and we fit their GVM and suspension packages every week.
Which one suits comes down to how you load the vehicle and how it drives now. A ute loaded heavy five days a week wants a different setup to a wagon that is empty most of the year and packed to the roof for three weeks in July.

While it is in
A GVM upgrade is a suspension job with certification attached, so we do plenty of 4WD suspension work on its own too. Suspension matched to the load and the use. Sensible, legal lifts that improve clearance without wrecking the geometry. Diff lockers front, rear or both, set up properly for the tracks you actually drive.
Pricing
Most GVM upgrades land somewhere between $4,000 and $9,000 fitted and certified. Here is what moves the number.
01
Kit availability and complexity vary considerably.
02
Tough Dog and EFS both offer multiple spec levels.
03
The certification path differs, and so does the cost.
04
Bundling suspension, alignment or a fitout saves labour.
After the upgrade
We quote fixed, up front, and free. If we think you do not need the upgrade, we will tell you that too. It happens more often than you would think.
Every GVM job finishes with a wheel alignment, because ride height changes geometry. If the reason you needed the upgrade is a heavier van behind you, a diesel tune written for that load is worth a conversation while the vehicle is here.
And because we also do your logbook servicing, the setup gets checked at every service rather than forgotten.

04
Running two to five work utes? We will get them compliant and keep them on the road.
It raises the legal maximum loaded weight of your vehicle by fitting an engineered suspension package rated to the higher weight, then having the vehicle certified and the compliance plate updated.
Expect $4,000 to $9,000 fitted and certified for most dual cab utes and wagons. We give you a fixed, free quote once we know the vehicle and how you load it.
Usually not. Towing is governed by GCM. Unless the kit includes a GCM upgrade as well, your maximum tow rating stays the same.
Most do, by around 30mm to 50mm. It is a side effect rather than the point. If you need a specific ride height, say so.
If you regularly load close to or over your factory GVM, yes. Take it over a weighbridge loaded the way you normally run it and bring us the ticket.
Yes, when it is done properly. What is not legal is heavier springs fitted without certification.
Get it quoted properly
Tell us the vehicle, how you load it and what you need it to do. We will give you a fixed price, explain the options in plain terms, and sort the certification.
