Home / Mechanical Repairs

Diagnosed first, quoted second

Mechanical repairs for 4WDs, utes and everyday vehicles.

Brakes, clutches, suspension, steering and engine repairs in Brisbane's west. We diagnose before we replace, and nothing gets ordered until you have said yes to the price.

Scheduled servicing lives on car servicing & repairs. This page is for the work that turns up when a pedal feels wrong, a noise starts, or a warning light will not go away.

Brakes

Brake repairs, Brisbane

Pads, discs, calipers, lines and fluid. Loaded 4WDs are hard on brakes, particularly once a GVM upgrade means you are legally carrying more. We take that into account rather than fitting the same parts you would put in an empty commuter.

If the pedal is soft, the vehicle pulls under braking, or there is a grinding noise, do not wait for the next service. Brakes are the one thing on the vehicle you do not run to failure.

What we repair

The jobs that come through the door

01

Clutch replacement

Clutch replacements, master and slave cylinders, and upgrades if you tow heavy or run a modified 4WD or a 70 Series. A slipping clutch on a loaded ute gets worse quickly, and it is cheaper to replace before it takes the flywheel with it.

02

Suspension repairs

Worn shocks, sagging springs, cracked bushes and noisy sway bar links. Repairs, not upgrades. If you need a lift or a GVM kit, we will tell you which one you are looking at.

GVM upgrades

03

Steering and front end

Tie rod ends, ball joints, steering racks, power steering pumps and the wear that shows up as vague steering or uneven tyre wear. Fixed properly, then aligned.

04

Engine repairs

Timing belts and chains, cooling systems, head gaskets, oil leaks, turbos, injectors and exhausts. Petrol or diesel. We find the actual fault rather than replacing parts until the light goes out.

05

Wheel alignment and balancing

The cheapest job in the workshop that saves you the most in tyres. Daily drivers and lifted, loaded 4WDs alike.

Wheel alignment

06

4WD-specific parts

Heavier brakes and clutches where the load calls for it, not commuter spec. Steering and suspension repairs are aligned as part of the job.

How we work

No parts-cannon

We do not replace parts until the light goes out. We find the fault, tell you what it costs, and fix it once.

You know the price before we touch it, and you get a phone call if we find something else. Found something during a service? Same rule: a call with a price first.

Straight answers

Questions we get every week

How long do brakes last on a loaded 4WD?

Shorter than the manual says. A dual cab running a canopy, a bull bar and a trailer can halve pad life. We check them at every service and tell you when they are getting close.

What are the signs a clutch is going?

A high or soft pedal, slipping under load, a burning smell after towing, or difficulty getting into gear. Get it looked at before it fails on a hill with a trailer behind you.

Can you fix it while it is in for a service?

Usually yes. If we find something during a service we call with a price. Most repairs can be done the same day if the parts are on hand.

Do you repair vehicles other workshops modified?

Yes. We see plenty of them. We will tell you honestly if what was fitted is causing the problem, including trays, canopies and bull bars fitted elsewhere.

Do I need an alignment after a steering or suspension repair?

Yes. Changing steering or suspension components changes the geometry, so we align it as part of the job. A steering repair without an alignment is only half a job.

Something not right?

Diagnosed properly. Fixed once.

Tell us what the vehicle is doing. We will diagnose it properly, quote it fixed and fix it once.
